Skype with Mike Benziger

Last week, our Milwaukee on-premise sales team was joined by Mike Benziger of Benziger Family Winery.  The enthusiasm and passion that Mike shows towards the Benziger Family Wines, was well delivered…using skype! It’s amazing what technology can do… A huge THANK YOU to Mike Benziger for taking the time to share such pivotal information with our sales force.

Few things about Benziger and their wines…

The entire portfolio of Benziger wine is certified sustainable, organic or Biodynamic.

“We don’t just farm this way because we think caring for the land is the right thing to do, it also happens to be the best way to make distinctive, authentic wines. By treating our vineyards the best way we know how, we’re making wines we’re really proud of. And that is good for, well, everybody.”- Benziger website.

“We make wine with the spirit of the land in the bottle.” Mike Benziger.

“We are not trying to compete with food but rather, we make a wine that makes you want to take another bite of food.” – Mike Benziger.

On the evening of December 8th Cempazuchi’s hosted their Customer Appreciation Tequila Tasting featuring Herradura Tequilas. All three varietals of Herradura tequila were tasted along with the Double Barrel Reposado which has been featured at Cempazuchi’s since August. While consumers sampled tequila, Jeronimo Rodrigues, Herradura’s Tequila Ambassador spoke about the different Herradura tequila varietals and answered consumers questions. Cempazuchi’s provided a buffet featuring some delicious items from their menu for consumers to taste. The evening was a great success and 10 bottles of the unique Double Barrel Reposado were sold.

Wirtz Beverage Wisconsin would like to thank Cempazuchi and Jeronimo Rodriguez for hosting this fantastic event and also a thank you to Brown Forman, Wirtz Beverage Wisconsin employees and consumers who attended this event that contributed to its’ success!

In partnership with Brown Forman, Wirtz Beverage Wisconsin submitted checks to the USO and Veterans Shield of Wisconsin totaling $23,164.  For every case of Jack Daniel’s purchased during the months of July and August, $5 was donated as well as $1 USO wristbands distributed in the Wisconsin market.  With this contribution, Wirtz Beverage Wisconsin and Brown Forman deeply show their respect and appreciation to our troops!

Wirtz Beverage Wisconsin employees raised $2,300 for food pantries in their four communities that Wirtz Beverage resides in, as well as, a donation to United Way of Wisconsin. The money was raised by adding an extra 25 cents for each bottle purchased through an employee sale.  Thank you to all of Wisconsin employees who have supported this ongoing outreach in the community.

In celebration of their passion for all things made with skill, time, and attention, Balvenie set out on a cross-county road trip to seek the talented people who keep traditional crafts alive. Brand Ambassador of the Western US,  Andrew Weir, traveled to Wisconsin this past September in a handcrafted Morgan car in search of rare craftsmen who continue to redefine artistry and ingenuity. While spreading The Balvenie’s rare craft message, Andrew & Nicholas Pollacchi (Balvenie Ambassador for the Eastern US) partook in a range of activities (off and on premise) that targeted consumers, the media, distributors and the trade.

The Roadshow stop in Milwaukee gave them a chance to pay tribute to a craftsman of another kind someone who has always been Andrews’s hero, Robert Burns. Robert Burns is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland.  Andrew commented, “I hope you’ll agree that this was a worthwhile stop – a fitting tribute to Scotland’s other greatest export – a long way from the hometown I share with this exceptional craftsman. Couldn’t come all this way and not pay my respects, now could I?”
Milwaukee…home of- among other things- beer, cheese and warm, welcoming people. “How could we possibly go wrong? Not long after pulling into Milwaukee, I was immediately reminded of what a genial and friendly place this is, and so what better way to celebrate this city’s contribution to craftsmanship than by meeting with some of it most renowned craft brewers over a glass or two of cheer,” said Andrew. In a city famous for it’s long tradition of macro brewing, it takes something special to stand out among some of the world’s most famous and largest beer brands, but that’s exactly what Sprecher Brewing Company has done. Upon their arrival to Sprechers, they were greeted by Jeff, Sprecher’s president, who gave them a tour of the facilities. Later on, they met Randy Sprecher, the company’s founder. “An absolutely incredible guy, Randy is the very definition of a renaissance craftsman,” was Andrews comment.

After a morning of visiting some of Milwaukee’s finest craftsman, the handcrafted Morgan made some pit stops at a few off premise hot spots of Milwaukee: Otto’s Elm Grove, Ray’s Wine & Spirits and Discount Liquor. Later that evening, the “Rare Craft Experience” at DISTIL was enjoyed by many Young Lawyers of Milwaukee and included a happy hour tasting that featured brand ambassadors, the Morgan and a range of samples. To wrap up the mini Milwaukee Roadshow, The Harbor House hosted a private event, “The Rare Craft Masterclass.” The event featured an ambassador- let sit-down rare craft dinner, presentation and a range of sampling for its guests.

Wirtz Beverage Wisconsin would like to thank Balvenie for celebrating their passion with Milwaukee and recognizing some of Milwaukee’s renowned craftsman.

Something Bubbly

With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, there is no better time to start planning for your Thanksgiving dinner and selecting the perfect wines to compliment your feast.

It’s nice to start off a celebration with a flute of something bubbly.  Therefore, for this Thanksgiving, we wanted to recommend a few sparklers to start your meal off right…

Get you sparklers now! Order Online

Signing bottles along the way, Tito started his mini Wisconsin tour in the  Northern market by visiting a few places in Green Bay, Appleton and Oshkosh on Monday, November 7th. The “store crawl” included Superior Discount Liquor, Gameday Sports and Festival Foods in Green Bay and Appleton.

Later that evening for his main event, Tito shared with many his story at Red Rock Saloon in Milwaukee. Happy hour with Tito featured some great complimentary  Fall Cocktails created by mixologist Katie Rose and a spread of delicious food made by Red Rock. The consumers and many Tito Vodka  lovers had a chance to chat with Tito himself, and hear the story of how Tito’s Vodka began. With degrees in geology and geophysics, experience in ground water geology, background  in the mortgage business and muddled a bit with infusing vodka, Tito is a great example of taking a dream/hobby and making it his own with the strengths he was given.

To wrap up the night, signed Tito’s Vodka bottles were given away and a Tito’s guitar was won. Congratulation to Sara Nicholson, the owner Envy in downtown Racine! She can now rock out to Tito’s on her new guitar…

Wirtz Beverage Wisconsin would like to thank those from the service industry who attended, those who love Tito’s Vodka and Tito Beveridge for sharing his success story.

All in all, a smooth night to accentuate the extremely smooth vodka.

Tito Beveridge is the founder and owner of Titos Handmade Vodka. Tito’s Handmade Vodka is produced in Austin at Texas’ first and oldest legal distillery. It’s made in small batches in an old fashioned pot still by Tito Beveridge (actual name), a 40-something Geologist, and distilled six times.

To see a short video clip from Tito’s speech and to  find out how he made the decision to join the liquor business, please visit Wirtz Beverage Wisconsin Facebook.
